Claire is a queer, geeky creative programmer who also draws comics and creative experiments. She has spent over 15 years in the games industry across more than six consoles, with a history in R&D, technical teams, social design and esports, and a passion for VR. Born and raised in South Africa, she studied at the University of Pretoria and Northumbria University, from a BSc in Computer Science and a BA in Philosophy to game programming, and moved to the UK in 2005 to pursue her dream career in video games.
She is Technical Director at Flammable Penguins Games, the XR studio behind the mixed reality puzzle game Augmental Puzzles, and has run Flammable Penguins Publishing with her wife since 2013. She co-hosted Tentacle Quill Book Banter, a weekly writing discussion with D.H. Dhaenens that ran until 2024, and has written seven plays and several self-published comics. She lives in London with two adorable cats, Vertex and Pixel. When she isn't in VR, skating or running TTRPGs, she is up to mischief.
